2024.W38: ONSAD, Kindle
Sep. 16-22, 2024
The past week had been the same. There were no notable events to share. It’s really a challenge for me writing these week notes. And it’s only my second week.
Anyway, iOS 18 just dropped, so I probably spent more time on my phone this week than usual, tinkering with the new updates.
Music:
One upside of my struggles in writing my week notes is my desperation to discover new things.
And recently, I’ve been listening to new music and it’s been amazing.
I made a playlist in YT Music cleverly titled ONSAD, short for One New Song A Day.
Every night, I listen to a random song from an artist I’m not familiar with, and put it in the playlist.
These are my discoveries this week:
- The Emptiness Machine - Linkin Park
- Space Song - Beach House
- Moon Song - Phoebe Bridgers
- Snowbank Blues - The Backseat Lovers
- Ctrl + Esc - Project Orange
- beck. - wave to earth
Reading:
I’m still on The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell.
I started with it early this month and the story is now picking up.
I have to admit I am a slow reader but I’m making an effort to read at least one chapter a day.
And lately I’ve been contemplating getting a Kindle, hoping it will make me read more books.
Thanks to himanshu and JCProbably for the push.
I’m really leaning towards getting one now.
I also started with the Kulang na Silya by Ricky Lee, but I realized I couldn’t enjoy reading multiple books at a time.
I’ll get back to it once I finished TFU.
Watching:
I’m still finishing the Assassination Classroom on Netflix. Also, I managed to watch two movies, both thrillers.
Triangle (2009). Thrilling and entertaining. I totally get the hype and it did not disappoint. Movies like this make you scour the Internet for answers, search for clues and form your own theories.
Predestination (2014). If a movie left me wondering at the end, it was a great one in my books. I still couldn’t wrap my head around it. Really mind-boggling, one of the best time travel films I’ve seen in a while. It is a ‘quiet’ one and depends a lot on storytelling. It doesn’t shy away from surprises as it spoils you with twists until the end.
